“The Chronology of Water” borrows its title from an honest, raw memoir by Lidia Yuknavitch. There are many ways to drown and many ways to emerge. Water is a symbol of life; time is passing, breathing faint and low, there is beauty in the rhythm and colour.
“The Chronology of Water” is a journey of high and low; waves of raw memories are combined with the magic of comfort. Beauty, pain, love and transformation, are shaped by fidgeting with direct and metaphorical. Draping dissonance between new and recycled; painting over new surfaces subsequently as in an endless circle of life. The figures / memories are present and they are absent at the same time; covered by a veil; between this time or another, by the memory of a quiet world.

About the artist:
Katarzyna Gajewska graduated from the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts as a Master of Fine Arts in March 2005 and was awarded a Ministry of Culture Scholarship. The recipient of eight residencies at Cill Rialaig , Co Kerry, Ireland. She exhibited in the Origin Gallery, Dublin, then in Co Waterford, Co. Cork, Co. Wicklow, Co. Mayo and Galway, Ireland also in England, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, and Scotland.
Her paintings are extremely physical; painted layer upon layer; often sculpted with heavy medium and suffused with intense emotion. As she claims, the unseen processes of creation carried out by the artist are giving her work their charge. Her works oscillate between oracular, mystical and mundane. Her works can be found in numerous private and public collections.

“Chronologia wody” zapożycza swój tytuł od szczerych, surowych wspomnień Lidii Yuknavitch. Istnieje wiele sposobów na utonięcie i wiele sposobów na wynurzenie się.
Woda jest symbolem życia; czas płynie, oddech jest słaby i cichy, jest piękno w rytmie i kolorze.
Chronologia wody to podróż wzlotów i upadków; fale surowych wspomnień łączą się z magią komfortu. Piękno, ból, miłość i przemiana są kształtowane przez manipulację bezpośrednimi i metaforycznymi środkami. Fałdowanie dysonansu między nowym a tym co z odzysku – malują się nowe powierzchnie, jak w niekończącym się kręgu życia. Figury/wspomnienia są jednocześnie obecne i nieobecne; okryte welonem; pomiędzy tym czy innym czasem, przez wspomnienie spokojnego świata.

Katarzyna Gajewska (ur.1978, Warszawa)
Absolwentka Wydziału Grafiki Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Warszawie, 2003; Dyplom w Pracowni Ilustracji pod kierunkiem profesora Janusza Stannego: ilustracje do książki markiza de Sade “Zbrodnie miłości”, praca teoretyczna “Sztuka szczęścia – malarstwo ludzi chorych psychicznie i odmiennych mentalnie”, aneks z malarstwa pod kierunkiem Profesora Henryka Gostyńskiego, 2005; dyplom w pracowni plakatu pod kierunkiem profesora Mieczysława Wasilewskiego / (Praca dyplomowa: cykl Plakatów przeciwko Przemocy wobec Kobiet / praca teoretyczna; “Motywacje i uczucia w Sztuce Współczesnej Kobiet”).
Jej obrazy są niezwykle fizyczne; malowane warstwa po warstwie; często wyrzeźbione ciężkim medium i nasycone intensywnymi emocjami. Jak sama twierdzi, niewidzialne procesy kreacji jakie przeprowadza, nadają jej pracom swoistego ładunku. Jej prace oscylują między proroczymi, mistycznymi i przyziemnymi. Jej prace znajdują się w wielu kolekcjach prywatnych i publicznych.

The Polish Arts Festival is holding a group exhibition entitled “Forces of Nature” on view from September 14th to 24nd in Belltable, Limerick and online from September 14th to October 13th at our website.
“Forces of Nature” looks beyond the traditional landscape to interrogate the ecological and natural forces at play in the surrounding landscape.
The visitors are invited to select their favourite photograph through an online or in-person vote. The author of the work with the highest number of votes will receive a cash prize of €150.
