Few words about the piece:
“Glór na Bogini” directly translates to “Voice of the Goddess”, a fusion of the Polish and Irish language – “Glór” the Irish word for voice coupled with “Bogini”, Polish for the Goddess.
The song is a collaboration between Limerick singer-songwriter JaYne and Irish/Polish artist Dora Gola delving into a brave exploration of ancient feminine wisdom and its relevance in 2024. The listener is taken on a journey into the mystical world through an imagining of a message from; Mokosh the Polish Goddess who represents women’s work and women’s destiny, and Danu an ancient Celtic Goddess associated with the natural world and fertility. These characters are believed to be the highest female “Mother Goddesses” in each of their traditions.
Skillfully crafted lyrics sung in Irish and Polish blend sentiments from each, eventually joining together in English representing the unification between both cultures. The instrumentation is a collage of acoustic and electronic elements with soaring sensual harmonies as JaYne and Dora’s vocals combine to connect the voices of our female ancestors to the women of the modern world.
